Bone-in lamb slow-cooked in a deep, rich gravy that highlights the traditional cooking style of the Shinwari tribe. Robust, meaty, and generously spiced — this is comfort food built for sharing at the table.
Lamb Karahi is a hallmark of Shinwari and Pashtun cooking, originating with the Shinwari tribe of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. Bone-in lamb is cooked over high heat in a wok-like karahi pan with tomatoes, ginger, garlic and green chilies until the gravy turns thick, glossy and deeply flavourful.
We slow-cook our lamb until it's fork-tender, letting the natural richness of the meat carry the dish rather than masking it with heavy spice. Served sizzling in the karahi, it's meant to be shared family-style with naan or rice.
Family Group
"One of the best Shinwari/Pakistani spots in northeast Calgary. The goat and lamb karahi are packed with flavour, the meat is tender and the spices are authentic without being overwhelmingly hot. Portion sizes are large enough for families and prices are reasonable for the quantity of food."
Karahi Lover
"The signature Shinwari karahi is perfectly cooked, with a rich, meaty gravy and well-balanced spices. It arrives sizzling hot and is ideal for sharing. This is our go-to place in Castleridge for authentic Pashtun-style karahi."
Neighbourhood Regular
"A reliable neighbourhood restaurant with consistent quality, fast service for both dine-in and takeout, and friendly staff. I frequently order the Peshawari Chapli Kebab and fish pakora — it's clearly busy on weekends, which speaks to how popular it is in the community."
